Lloydbore were appointed by Allerdale Borough Council to provide ecological services for extensive HLF- funded restoration works to the building, which dates from 1898.

Lloydbore ecologists identified roosts of pipistrelle and Myotis bats during survey work.

Working with the architects and the planning authority we prepared an EPSM licence application for submission to Natural England to allow renovation and roofing works to proceed.

The application was successful, and Lloydbore then provided an ecology clerk of works service whilst the roof was stripped, providing practical advice to the project contractor.

Further survey work in 2013 & 2014 proved that the mitigation was successful with bats returning to the designed-in roosting features.
