Philip Ames

Philip has over 16 years’ experience as an ecological consultant, with a focus on protected species survey and mitigation. He specialises in bat survey and mitigation, and has substantial experience drawn from projects across the UK. He also has substantial experience and understanding of most areas of UK terrestrial ecology.

Philip has designed and led survey programmes and contributed to ecological mitigation strategies for national infrastructure projects (windfarms, power stations, roads) and large commercial and residential developments. He has successfully worked with a broad range of stakeholders, including NGOs, interest groups and planning authorities to achieve successful planning outcomes for projects.

The breadth of Philip’s experience allows him to engage with and effectively manage a wide range of projects, including complex multi-phase developments. With a good eye for detail and a drive to seek the best outcome for clients and ecosystems, Philip can use this experience to guide a project through the planning and licensing processes, from initial enquiry through to practical completion on site. He is currently registered to use Natural England class survey licences for bats (Level 2) and great crested newt (Level 1).
